Skewed!

I've come to the conclusion the only thing more boring than sanding all day is watching someone else sand all day. You're off the hook.

Actually, I finished up all the sanding around 3:00 PM so I went to my neighbors to work on the columns. Now, that was exciting!

I'll be the first to admit that turning isn't my forte and today it was made pretty obvious. While shaping one of the beads with a skew chisel, the edge caught and there was that loud "clunk" as the lathe grinds to a halt and you start looking around for spare body parts in the shavings. Though I survived OK, Mr. D.'s columns will be a little bit smaller, in one spot, than planned.

I know how to use a skew, but knowing and understanding are two different things. When I get this job done, me and Mr. Skew are going to have some lengthy discussions over some scrap wood. Body armor is not optional! ;)

And tomorrow we spray! :)

If you have any questions or comments about Mr. D's Walnut Wall Unit, please post them at the Info Exchange.
