The kitchen is 25ys old and the drawers have under mount (slides attach to the bottom corner of the drawer).
They are not full extension (lack 3 to 4 inches of opening all the way).
I need recommendations and suggestions for slides to replace these that are full extension.
I admit I get confused when looking at all the options available.
I want to go simple and just replace what I have.

Will really appreciate some guidance and recommendations. (Tell me what to use)

Thanks

Duan

Hi Daun, I can only speak from my experience here in the UK, but I think hardware is fairly universal in today's shrinking world. The runners you have will be two-part units the full extension runners are three-part. This means the extra section has to be allowed for when mounting. Usually, this will mean repositioning the runner, it will not be a straight replacement. If the carcass of your cabinet is panel and frame construction, and not a European style solid board construction, this might be a problem, unless the frame rail that supports the slider is wide enough to allow for the repositioning. The other problem that you may encounter is the three part runner will be thicker then the two part unit. If this is the case you will have to narrow the drawer box in order to make enough room for the runner to slide.

Without seeing the actual carcass and drawer, it is hard to be too precise, but I hope the above helps.

Ralph.

Duan,
I did a complete kitchen for a neighbor plus many shop cabinets for myself and family. Lots of drawer slides. Like everything else, not simple and an infinite number of choices.
You said the present slides mount on the bottom corners of the drawer. Is any part or the slide visible on the sides of the drawer? No part of an undermount slide can be seen when installed on the drawer when it is in the cabinet.
A picture would help.

Thanks, Norm
Yes, the existing slide is the "standard" bottom/side/corner mount, and the part mounted to the drawer
is visible.
I am hoping for an easy replacement that will just "bolt" in but it doesn't look like
this is available.

Thanks
Duan

A question, is there 1/2" clearance on each side of the drawer (is the drawer 1" narrower than the cabinet or face frame opening)?
Most drawer slides require the 1/2" side clearance and are 1/2" thick. If you have the "1/2" it should be easy to replace the old slides. Numerous companies sell full extension or full +1" or more to extend beyond countertop overhang.
I hope this helps.

Thanks Norm

Yes I have the half inch.
So maybe I will check at a big box and give something a try.

Duan, if, after installing the full extension slides, the drawer is too tight, you may be able to cut a very shallow dado on the sides of the drawer, depending on the slides. It will recess the slide so it would open and close easier. Just a thought.

Good thought Larry.
I appreciate solutions to problems that are simple and practical.

Thanks
