According to my local (Mt Vernon WA) pro paint/finish outlet Karl's, Daly's finishes will continue to be available from the various retail outlets other than the Daly's stores themselves.

Apparently the Daly's family sold the mfr. end of the business some time ago and the personnel responsible for formulation of same went with it to the new owners. The family owned and operated stores closed, that's all. Thus many, if not all of their products will still be on the shelves, just not the shelves we might be accustomed to find them on.

Hope this is the case ...

Hey Dennis,

I hear that too, this week. Good news indeed!

Cheers,
Tom

Tell me about Daly's finishes.
Have not seen them in this part of the country.

Tom is probably better suited to reply since I haven't used a great deal of their material. What sets them apart, in my mind, is their outstanding customer service and knowledge of wood finishes and treatments.

Hey Duan,

Dennis is correct, their finishes are comparable to others that you would find anywhere else in the country. It’s just that they are an old local firm that started during Seattle’s early industrial boom. They were noted for their customer service as much as for their finishes.

I’m particularly fond of their ProFin wipe on oil/urethane finish and their Glossthane varnish. It was also handy to have their store down the street from my shop.

Cheers,
Tom
