Well this isn't as nice or as complex of work as I've seen some of you guys post here. This is the sort of thing I do country rustic pieces.

So alittle bit about this.
I messed up the staining and clear coat a couple of times and had to sand it down to the bare wood inorder to redo it.

For the past 15 years I used GF water base stains and finishes.

I changed up this time and went for a solvent base finish and a dye stain that I could spray.

The stain was a mixture of stain, acetone and clear. I played with the % I started out with a 50% stain,50% acetone and 20% clear. It came out to dark I wanted the grain and the wood to be seen. I ended up with a 20-30% stain 30% acetone and 30 % clear. The clear was a clear statin Acrylic

Once I got down (it took a while ) it came out pretty good.

Hey Ron,

I wouldn't call it rustic at all. It looks great, well done!

Cheers,
Tom

thanks guys,

Heres a detail I didnt mention is added a 18mm maple 3" wide l down the outside edges of the headboard. It was to help give the top shelf more support and to hide the legs that allows the headboard to sit on the floor. hey are mounted just inside the maple pieces. Also the headboard can butt right against the wall no gap.
