The lower bearings went out on my 1930 something 14" Delta band saw.
Do you think I should complain to Delta? :-D
Well I know what my next project will be. Between the hot weather and my health it might be awhile.
What size motor do y'all would be appropriate?

I don't understand. You said the bearings went out. Why are you considering replacing the motor? What size is/was the original?

When I got it it had a 1/3 hp motor way under powered.
I have used it for over 10 yrs this way.
As long as I am overhauling the saw it self I figured that I would up date the motor, dust collection, tires, ...
But will not paint it as it has the early ribbon Delta logo.
As of now I have a 3/4 hp multi speed (1075 max) or a 1-1/2 single speed (1075)
Recommended blade speeds, haven't looked much for that.
I have been unable to find the calculations for blade speed with different pulleys.
I might need to cut some metal at some time but not often if at all, I have a Porta-Band for that.

If you are going to change out bearings change them all, but you already know that.
Here is one calculator but there are others easier to use, I will look some more.

My 1930's Delta has a 1/4 HP on it and has been running that way for over 60 years that I know of an by the looks of the motor I would be surprised if it was the original.

My bearings are surprisingly good. The only problem I've had was the camber bracket. Over the years the tang bent and had to make a new one.

Definitely not the original motor it is a 70's vintage Dayton, not an OEM stand welded angle iron.
Still have not done anything with it yet have not been feeling good.
