Hey Guys,

A friend of mine has a son attending school in the Atlanta area and who is interested in improving his woodworking skills. He is currently volunteering with Habitat for Humanity, but carpentry is not his main interest. He's looking for a shop where he can volunteer and hopefully pick up a little knowledge on the side. If you have any ideas, they would be greatly appreciated. I have already suggested the Georgia Woodworkers Guild, so that bit is covered.

Thanks,
Tom

Tom, if your friend was closer to me, I could definitely help. Our SDFW has a mentorship program and we also have a lot of shops who would love to have a helper....me included.
BUT.....since he is in Atlanta... he might find HighLand Hardware to have a list or, at least be acquainted with, shops in that area that might be a consideration.
Wish I could be more help.

Don

Tom,

Just north of Atlanta, Gwinnett County has a very active woodworking guild that I see each year displaying their craft at the Woodworking Show. Also, Peachtree Woodworking is located there in Gwinnett in the Norcross area, so they would probably have contact information to help him track them down.

If push comes to shove and he doesn't mind a drive, I'm located about 2 1/2 hours north of downtown Atlanta, up in Rabun county. Have him contact me through here and I'll see if I can help him with what little bit I know.......;^)
