As the title suggests - I've been assigned to refinish the tops of a few pieces of furniture which have all sorts of dents, gouges and other faults.

I found a few resources online about burn-in and wax sticks:

But I am having trouble finding a definitive answer on how to properly use these products and would appreciate some input from people who have previous experience using them.

Welcome to WWA!

I don't have any direct experience with using burn-in sticks, but I read in Bob Flexner's book, Understanding Wood Finishing, how they are applied. Seems to be a good description of the methods and doesn't seem to be too difficult. I included the link to the book on Amazon. I really like the book. Has been helpful with some other projects.

JOHNNY BRAVO: Try this for some information on burn in resin sticks.

GOOGLE: Mohawk Finishing Products. Look for the YOU TUBE entries for vids of various techniques.

I believe that burn in is a much better repair than wax sticks. I think it's much more durable and will stand closer examination than wax....but just my .02$

Practice and patience are the two most important points to keep in mind as you do the repairs.
