Hard one for me! I guess I would have to say BOB SMALSER. His posts ALWAYS inspired me to get busy. But GAIL was one that was great to watch...she started coming here when she worked with John Lucas of WOODSHOPDEMOS and grew into a professional woodworker with her own shop then went on to be part of a large commercial shop.
Who is YOUR favorite?

Don

Granted, I ain't here as much as I used to be, but I still pop in from time to time. I miss Tampa Tom, Larry, Jiggy, and many more. You are right about Bob. I loved his tutorials. Really great.

I've actually got a small project in the finish room I hope to post in a few days, and I'm working on a small cabinet for the kitchen. Are you up to anything Don?

Yeah, I'll have to toss my vote in the Bob Smalser bucket. There was always something technically beautiful about his contribution to a subject.

Thanks for asking, Frank! As a matter of fact I do have some irons in the fire and just posted a taste over on the infeed/outfeed/. It certainly is time for me to get off my duff and post some stuff on here.....I've enjoyed reading others' activities......and, like Dennis, I drop by here everyday.....sometimes more than once.
Yep, Tampa Tom & Larry used to burn up the electrons on here....10,000 posts they each had...and I enjoyed them all. Tom is still busy with posting on his site and 'The WoodWhisperer' who used to be a member here as well.

The founders, Jim Mattson, and Chuck Ring. They made this place happen, and it was an ambitious effort when it started, one of the best forums for woodworking at the time in my humble opinion. It was unfortunate the politics reared their many heads and paradise was lost (not really it is still here!)
I have learned much, and I hope I have contributed at least a little bit during the almost 17 years this place has been up and running. Maybe we are due for a rennaisance?

PS I did not even mention the "Maze".....

Amen to what Eric said.
The maze was an absolutely fabulous feature on this site. Unfortunately I can only imagine the time and research that went into it's creation.
I also miss the many posters who had so many ideas for solutions to so many situations. Since this site is free of flame and judgemental comments many of us should respond or initiate new threads more frequently.

I really miss postings showing in process pictures, no matter who was posting.

My favorites:
Dave Shaw
Bob Smalser
John Lucas

And the cartoon drawings by woodchuck canuk. I think that was his name?
It goes without saying... Larry was very entertaining!!

There was a gentleman named Nikki I believe that used to show pictures of some of his jigs and methods of doing things. I found those posts very interesting.

Lets see there are a few I got pretty close. One we lost and the other I don't know what happened to him.

That would be MikieM and the other Larry Norton also jigsaw mama (jiggy). I have seen Forest Girl stop in but she didn't stay long.

There are a few

Hey Don,

How can I list only one? The ones that come to mind first are Bob Smalser, Tampa Tom, Ralph Laughton, Francios, and so many others.

I agree that our forum is due for a renaissance. If you want that to happen, then we all need to promote the WWA in our emails and post to other forums. Provide your friends and correspondents with a link to the site. If we don't make the effort, we will die a slow death of attrition. :(

Cheers,
Tom

Ive been gone for a while and haven't visited some other forums as well. I noticed that some of my old stand byes have changed at them as well.

I guess people come and people go, its normal. The old ones will come back, new ones will come. We do sort of have to give the word out about the site. How I have no idea....

Def. Jim and Chuck. Remember Jim's huge build out of walnut that he documented every step. I forget exactly what it was.

Also John Lucas, miss him and his website.

Dave in Cairns. Man, that guy built some beautiful stuff. I hope he's still creating wood stuff.

Right, Chill! Dave in Cairns built the beautiful Tsunami Tribute piece that WWA auctioned to a member for the relief fund for the Great Tsunami victims. He posted 'build-along' pics ....beautiful craftsmanship! I still have the CD I bought from John Lucas before he passed....he was one'of'a'kind!
John C., I remember Jim & Chuck as I came in in 2003....they were the heart & soul.

i'll get mushy I miss them all. I enjoyed Frank from Oahu as well, his rocking chairs were just incredible. and Nikki until he passed. Gail for sure. what talent and determination, Larry and his country work was just awesome stuff. Ralph and his brain. We still have Tom for that.
I miss so many. Sasha whatever he put his hand too well... became GOLD bowls, humidors, PHOTOGRAPHY JimM he has all the little tricks of the trade. What you don't need to get the job done. HE should have his own book. DON"T USE OR DO THAT! USE THIS OR DO THIS... INSTEAD
I'll probably edit a zillion times including the ones you all have mentioned. I loved the tutorials loved them.
