Hey Ron,
So, what's the problem? Where drones out of season? Did he not have the proper punch card, or toe tag? Perhaps it was a female and he needed a doe permit. I know, ...he should have been using steel shot, instead of lead.
Man, I tell ya, the game rules get more and more complicated every year. It's so hard to keep current.
Cheers,
Tom

There's quite a few trap and skeet ranges that have adopted drones as part of their business. Fiocchi has a traveling drone shoot. Kinda pricey tho. The things are hard to hit unless they're hovering. They will often have small explosive charges that will go off when hit with a pellet, so you can tell when you hit one. Rare for one to actually be brought down. Google "Gnat Shoot". Lot's of video's on Youtube.

I'm with Tom!

If I were to see a drone flying low over my place or worse, hovering, my first reaction would be to shoot the sucker down. I view such action by a drone as invasion of my 'air space'. Invasion of my privacy.

This stuff is getting out of control.

but it wasn't over his place, it was over the neighbor's.
And it wouldn't surprise me to learn it's illegal to discharge a gun in city limits. That's a pretty common restriction.

Well, no, I wouldn't go shooting my gun off in an urban setting, no. I live in the country, And even then, I'd be careful in which direction I aimed since I do have neighbors on three sides even if they are a half mile away. But that 4th side? - nothing but forest for acres and acres.

C'mon, drone! Show yourself!! (grin)

Seems to me they'd have to prove it was his gun. and I know there isn't any rifling marks on a few pellets. :-)
