I have to say that I have really been enjoying myself with this rust stuff.
I have had some of this stuff for over half my life with the intention of doing something with it some day.
The lack of any cannon carriages at the moment has given me some time to mess around with this junk.
I could not get the small drill bit to free up. I suspect it got too hot at some point in it's life and seized up. The bigger bit is now free and spinning.
These things are heavy.
The way they are displayed, the small one weighs 25 lbs. and the big weighs 44 lbs.
It is my intention to put these on my website for sale. I have to wait for assistance from my lovely assistant for that.
The one picture with the beer can is purely for size reference.
The wood on the small one is red oak. The wood on the big one is left over butcher block from a kitchen remodel. That base is 17" in diameter!
One cool fact is I have almost zero dollars in all of these rust projects. Almost everything came from stuff I had laying around here for a long time. All the rust was free.
Enjoy the pics.
