Our local Hi School, Sedro-Woolley, and the S-W chamber of commerce puts on this woodworking show annually to spotlight the work of the kids done in three area school shops. Our woodturners club participates with demonstrations and sales along with items donated by the members for sale with the proceeds going to our educational outreach program that further supports the kids' program. Member mentors visit, on request, the shop classes with demonstrations and training for shop teachers who might not have that much experience with turning.

We set up several mini lathes and engage the folks promoting woodturning and woodworking in general -

Here's more about the Woodfest WW'ing show last weekend.

This young man watched in amazement as shavings came flying off the lathe. I made the mistake of engaging him in conversation and I didn't think he'd ever stop talking! A future woodworker/turner in the making.

Hey Dennis,

Good on you!

Thank you for taking the time to engage that young man. I say that with the full knowledge that I was once one of those exhausting young inquisitors. How anyone was able to suffer through my interrogations I will never know. I certainly don't have the patience for it, so I deeply appreciate those who do.

Thanks again,
Tom
