How do you cut your blanks to final length?
I have been using a block as a push block and my band saw.

Finishing?
I have been using spray lacqure on a seprate spindle, or various oils and/or wipe on finishes.

I used to use those pen mills to trim to final length, but after blowing a few out, I've switched to using a miter gauge on my disk sander. It takes a little longer, but no blowouts.

Finish, I usually go with Maloof's Oil/Wax finish, followed by several coats of Renissance Wax. It doesn't look all glossy like you get with CA, but it feels like wood in your hand and not plastic.

I use barrel trimmers on the smaller stuff, like pens/pencils letter openers, etc. On the bigger stuff I do the same as Frank.

Most of my finishes are Mylands friction polish. On the higher priced items I will use CA. I have also used a lacquer based finish. I believe the name is "Doctors". Picked it up at Woodcraft. The non-CA finishes are easier and faster than the CA and give an excellent look. Like Frank says, they feel like wood, not plastic.

I use a home made trimmer, made from an industrial "spot facer " to trim the lengths even with the tubes, for finishing I use a mixture of shellac and carnuba wax as a friction polish.
