What is the max shelf span for MDF? How did you come to this conclusion, and and if you don't like the stuff keep it to yourself :D

Its another pretty subjective question, but at least its not about hammers or nails again........

Due to experiance, I'll say 30".
But of course it depends on what you put on the shelf and how thick the MDF is. I have some 48" long with nothing but dust on them and even those are warped.

MDF without out any support will begin to flex after 18inches. If a right angle support is added it will span about 30 inches without flexing.
No science just experience.

Those are both good answers, probably would have helped if I gave a thickness.....  :-?

3/4 Inch or 19mm I was thinking of.

For MDF? The span should equal the thickness. :D :D :D

Well they were all good answers! Roger was the closest to what I was thinking of 28 inches, though Jeff's answer was not wrong either!

Hopefully something more exciting soon, or not.............
