...or yellow. It is a low grade timber with lots of dead knots. It is odourless, and having a clean hard surface it is very suitable for shelving.

What is it?

BTW, the statement above was written in 1901 - a few years before the general availability of, well seasoned, old-growth MDF :D

I used nothing but yellow pine for years. Made and sold a ton on jelly cabinets and shelves out of the stuff.

Im thinking Pine would not be classified as odorless.

Soo I'm thinking birch, but Im not sure about the loose knot bit, but still
lets say Birch....
