Besides making the blade heavier, this design allows you to take the blade off and sharpen it with no loss of adjustment.

It's based on the old Record "Stay-set" design.

Clifton uses it quite a bit. They're made in England. I think somewhere near the soggy points factory. ;-)

What I think I like looking at best is that fancy and pretty cap iron screwdriver.... and here I've been using a sharp chisel (just kidding!)
