Anybody planting a fall garden? I planted a couple varieties of southern peas (MS Silver ) and "Top Pick ( a purple hull bush variety ), plus English Peas and cabbage. Will put in some other stuff next month ( Turnip, Mustard, Broccoli, etc. ). See here for southern pea varieties, as they go by several different names. http://msucares.com/lawn/garden/vegetab ... rnpea.html

Still getting butter peas, baby lima, eggplant, tomatoes and peppers.

Wife wants to make the garden bigger by 300sqft or so, so that's going to be a lot of RoundUp, stump, weed & grass removal and plowing & soil amendment. Will probably not plant there till next fall at the earliest. Growing yer own is a heck of a lot of work Image

I'll be planting some peas in Pots.

Note, I used to have a 25 by 75 foot garden, lots of weeding & digging every year but my wife made me build a shop (so I built 2) there to get me out of the garage.

I'd like to plant some herbs to carry me through the winter.

However, in this drought and heat I'm not sure if I can even pull off a rock garden without it looking malnourished. :(

Too early for a Fall garden yet but we are harvesting okra, Japanese eggplant, and tomatillos.

I put in some beets, swiss chard and lettuce. I also started some broccoli and cabbage under the grow lights.

Except for a few squash, wilted tomato plants and two droopy pepper plants, my garden has rejoined the earth by running the mower over it. Did good this year, especially with sweet corn, potatoes, onions, radishes, and turnips (Turnips, that nobody likes except me, always grow like weeds.) Our cantaloupes didn't produce much quantity, but made up for it with quality. Carrots, that any school kid grows with ease, were a total failure this year.

I'll be plowing up the whole thing soon and getting it ready for fall planting, and I want to enlarge it for next year.

We enjoyed tomatoes, squash, and beans, to name a few.
Might try a third crop of beans. :-?
The weeds and grass is doing much better than vegs.
