I have had problems for years with my sprayer that I use to spray the apple trees losing it's prime and having to reprime it. I could not find any sprayers under 500 gallon that did not have the pump above the tank outlet. So I went to Tractor Supply and bought a 35 gallon tank, with a bottom outlet, RKO and bought a pump and hose. Then to the local hardware store for some copper tubing and a ball valve. With some angle Iron and some old iron wheel barrow wheels I now have a sprayer that is truely self priming. It helps to have a welder as well as woodworking equipment.

I have eight apple trees, three peach trees, and one cherry tree. Plus about forty feet of grape vines. I use about twenty five gallons of spray each time I spray. So the 35 gallon tank works well. Plus I can use it to spray the fence rows around the pasture. I just have to make sure I get the weed killer washed out good before spraying the trees.

When I was a kid my Dad had an apple tree, couple nectarines, couple peaches snd figs. The squirrels declared war and after a valiant fight Dad had to throw in the towel. The fig thing really upset him. He got a sprout from his Fathers tree years before. Squirrels have no respect, or predators, not sure which it is!

I lost two big orange trees and 12 of my pineapple plants, not to mention two nice trees, in the unheard of hard freeze here in the Houston area back in February.
It got down to 10 degrees for 3 days. Never have seen anything like it here.
It killed millions of fish along the Texas coast.

My orange trees put out about 500 oranges a year. I've been growing pineapples for 8 years.
Now, I'm starting from scratch. :x

Zulu you should move to Ohio, the weather can cost you a years crop, but I haven't had weather kill any of my trees except for the one apple tree that was uprooted in a bad storm. I dug out around the base, set it back up with the frontloader, then braced it with a railroad tie. After four years it was doing well and I was tired mowing around the brace so I removed the brace, then in about two more years it blew over again and was just too big for me to straighten again.
