I have run out of things to make from maple cutoffs. They are 1&1/2 inches wide, 3/4 inch thick, and range from 8 to 14 inches long. I have all ready made several items mugs, boxes, serving trays and music boxes and have long ago designed a line of wooden toys around oak stair tread cut offs.I just need an inspiration to get me moving again. I hate to keep burning them.

Hey Don,

How about end grain cutting boards? They make great gifts as they are very expensive to buy. Add a few pieces of walnut or cherry and you can have something that is both beautiful and functional.

Cheers,
Tom

actually I did make a end grain cutting board out of 116 pieces that were 2&1/2 inches long And edged it with some curly maple strips that were longer. The place where I get the cutoffs often has longer strips of curly maple in their scraps since if their tooling isn't sharp the curly maple tends to chip out.So I just replane the curly maple and use it for picture frames.
