I made another bench. Brother #3 wanted one but wanted something more suited for use in a mud room. So I tried using Waterlox Marine finish. I think the finish will be durable but it isn't my cup of tea. Way too yellow and quite difficult to apply without runs. I much prefer the beloved weasel spit.

That is REALLY a fine bench! May be the inspiration I need...been thinking about making one for years!
BTW, I use Waterlox quite a lot..... you're right ... there is a learning curve to the application but, for outdoor projects, I've found it to be VERY durable and easy to maintain.
