He's right smack in the middle of all that flooding from Harvey. Hope they're alright.

Thanks for thinking about me Gene.

Yesterday was a rough day starting at 1:30 AM. Second day in a row.
Last night at 7:30 the water was 3" from the front door. We thought flooding was eminent.
Right then the water started slowly receding in spite of heavy rain.
It went down all night but never stopped raining.
It's still raining.
News people say we had 40" to 50".

We have dry carpet but the house is a wreck.
Everything is set up on wooden blocks and piled on top of everything else.

Good thing I am a woodworker and had lots of scrap 4" X 4" blocks laying around.

We have 2 1/2" of standing water in our lower bar area in the rear of the house that I bailed out this morning but we have dry carpet.

Did I say we have dry carpet?
We are okay.

Here are some pics.

Lost an oak tree that fell across the street. Cut it up two mornings ago at dawn in the pouring rain.
Luckily, a neighbor had a chain saw. I don't have one.

Back yard had a river flowing across the pool.

Sunken bar area in the back of the house. I bailed it out this morning.
It didn't make it high enough to get the carpet.

Al in all, we are much more fortunate than the tens of thousands that had to be rescued.

A news caster reported that a rescue boat was cruising the entirely flooded interstate highway and saw a guy waist deep in water waving his arms. When they got up to him, they asked him what he was standing on. He said it was his 18 wheeler. :(

Good to hear that you're ok. :) Been watching the news about this since it started. Y'all got a tough road ahead.

Glad to hear you are OK. I remembered from when my wife and I were there about 4 years ago that your lot and the area around you was flat. Don't remember any rivers or streams. Anyway flat is not good with 50" of rain, glad it went somewhere other than in your house. Did your shop floor stay above the water?

Thanks everyone.
Norm, my shop stayed dry.
Trying to calculate the rain at my house.
News says over 50" in some places.
I was using a 5 gallon bucket as a rain gauge and my guess at my house is somewhere around 40".

The bucket over flowed once and I don't know how long it had been doing that.

It finally stopped raining at 5:00 last night.
Today, half the folks in my neighborhood are dragging carpet and sheet rock to the street.
Still can't drive to about 20 houses as the water is still too deep.
I suspect they had 4' of water in them.

This storm is working it's way northeast thru MS today and tomorrow. Greatly diminished, but still dangerous. Has produced some small spin up tornadoes in the southern part of the state today. One hit Petal, MS with some significant damage this morning. Expecting T-Storms and 3 or 4 inches of rain at my place starting in the early morning. Hopefully no tornadoes, but not predictable. Life in the South.
