I recently did a Podcast interview with a Pirate guy about cannons.
I tried really hard not to embarrass myself.

It is 39 minutes long and can be heard at the link below.
His record is just over 1000 views per interview. I would really like to beat that.
My portion is about 20 minutes.

It can be seen at the link below.
Please help me by clicking on it and not be too critical about my responses.

Thanks,
Zulu

ZULU: Good interview! Listening to the discussion between naval and ground artillery, raised a question for me. Was there a major difference in mortar weapons? :?:

newtooth,
Mortars that were big enough to do real damage weighed a whole lot. A 13" mortar like "The Dictator" weighed 18,000 lbs. and that didn't count the metal base.

They were hauled on rail cars and used in siege operations.
Some were put on barges and could be fired from water.
The 13" shell had a timed fuse that exploded over forts or troops causing a lot of damage.

Because of the weight, they were never transported around like field weapons.
