If you can access the map at this site, the Goodel fire is North and East of us about 60 miles. Smoke and haze this morning gave a rather frightful, although beautiful sunrise. Doubt that it will get this far West although we are experiencing an off shore (easterly) wind which is bringing the smoke our way.

Bummer.

What to pack.

Hey Dennis,

Believe it or not, I can smell the smoke here in Seattle tonight. This is the worst wildfire season on record, and it ain't over yet.
To make it worse, we lost three brave souls last week, fighting the fires.

Tom

Air quality in Mt Vernon (about 8 miles to our south west) was rated as bad yesterday. Fortunately, for us at least, the wind has shifted to on shore (westerly) and the sky's pretty clear this morning. Looking at some of the videos it's unbelievable to think there's a chance of controlling these fires. But all hats off to those brave folks who are doing the job. Yes, we lost three of them just now. So sad.

So sad.

They look horrible, Stay safe, and always be alert. We appear to be heading into a very dry summer, but hopefully we will not burn to much!
I hadn't heard about the lost fire fighters, horrible news.

Stay safe,
eric

And Thank you, Eric/Australia, for sending firefighters to aid in the effort.
