Hellowwwww out there! I see names I recognize! I'm gearing up to resurrect my shop and get back to woodworking, after a harrowing end to my horse-training career. May take awhile to get all the machines back in working order, but am determined to do it.

Hey Jamie,

Welcome back!

Lots of the old crew are still here, plus a bunch of new folks too. We're maybe not as active as we once were, but who is?

Cheers,
Tom

FORRESTGIRL: "Harrowing end" has some mystery about it and it doesn't sound all that pleasant. I'm sure we're all glad your're back safe and sound. Any details on the change in direction?

Thanks so much for the warm welcome! I have so much to do to get the shop working, I'll need moral support. :D Newtooth alluded to the mysterious "harrowing end" comment. Yep, it was bad. After an accumulated 30 years or more of riding horses while avoiding hospitalization, things fell apart 12/30/13, when I was bucked off and broke my back in two places, got a helicopter ride to Harborview. "No worries" I thought, it'll mend and I'll be back in business. Well, yeah, sorta - took 4 months. Then, in August 2014, I was thrown mightily (by a different horse), ripping open right upper arm, 2 more days at Harborview and 2 surgeries. I tried to come back from that one, but have decided it's not worth it (at my Mature Age). I still have one student who has become a very good friend, but not recruiting any more. If I won't ride their horses, I'm not going to give 'em lessons.

It's a relief to ease out and get back to toolin' -- especially with the lathe, which is SO much fun!

Wow! What bummer with all those mishaps. Just glad to hear you did mend and can get back to making shavings again.

Which reminds me - I still have that glue block you left last time you and Nick were up here. The one with the nut epoxied into the glue block blank. The wood moved, the nut became loose and eventually fell out but I'll bring it/them all to the roast.

What I'd suggest instead is investing in a tap to merely thread the glue block directly to fit your lathe spindle.

Oh, Dennis, thanks for holding onto that for me! I'll re-adopt it at the Pig Roast.
