I'm having an annoying issue with popups on this and a few other sites I visit. but not all, oddly enough.

When messages are displayed, after a slight pause certain words are highlighted and underlined and are indeed hot links to popup advertising messages. I know this is not the intent of the board masters and similar issues have been discussed in the past.

I have NoScript running, do a daily scan with Malwarebytes anti malware software along with adblock shareware.

I'm not sure where to look to find out what's running behind the scenes to create this behavior.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Dennis, I'm not getting pop-ups. I use AVG for anti-virus, and I run Spybot and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware when I feel I might have a problem.

I really don't know where to look on my Windows 7 for processes running in the background....I guess I don't "play" with the system as much as I once did.

Since you're running FireFox, go to Tools, Options, Content and check the Block Popups option. Click on the Exceptions button and delete anything in there that you don't want.

Block Popups is checked, there are no exceptions, Gene.

It's really odd that it only happens here, and on a few other sites.

It wouldn't bother except that if I inadvertently hoover over one of the highlighted words, the ad pops up and won't dissapear until I leave the page.

Not life threatening, just annoying.

Thanks, Gene.

Found it!

I have an addon called QuickJava installed for my Firefox. With Java script enabled, the annoying popups appear. Disable it and they don't. Ergo - that's the culprit.

Down side is Java script has to be enabled in order to view content on facebook.
