Our condo has a fireplace that has been covered over and a woodstove now sits in front of a metal shield covering the fireplace opening, with the flue from the stove connected to the old fireplace flue. We want to restore this to a fireplace, preferably one that draws outside combustion air and is well-sealed from the room when the doors are closed. I'm assuming I want some kind of zero-clearance unit to install, probably vented through the back wall. (The existing flue is probably crappy, and is three stories tall, so a direct-vent seems like a good idea.)

So, what am I looking for? What brands should I check?
Thx

I suspect the best place to get answers to those kind of questions would be a local fireplace/stove dealer, or perhaps a chimney sweep.
