Verna, How are things in Iowa.
I think my wife and her sister are up there somewhere, Pobably
eastern side.

Hope the storms don't do any damage.

Wife just checked in and they are allright and alert to the weather
AOK

Duan:

I think you need Vicki, in Iowa. I'm in Indiana.....Hollar if you want me to call Vicki--I have her tel #. The weather map sure looks red heading for Iowa, so I can see why you're concerned.

Good that you've heard from them. It appears the storms have hit Oklahoma, Kansas and now Nebraska. The expected tornados are expected to hit at night, doggone it--the worse time. Tell you wife to make sure they know where their shelters are.

My sister and I were in Georgia two weeks ago and were woken up at 3:48 am by tornado sirens and a tornado warning. We were groggy and had trouble figuring out initially what to do. I said, get dressed, get your purse and the dogs and we'll go to the bathrooms on the 1st floor.

She turned on the TV and the warning was cancelled before we were ready. So, it's a good idea to know where a storm shelter is if you're not at home.

Hey, Roger, how's the weather in KS? I'm watching a tornado on The Weather Channel.....I sure don't like seeing those things.

very nasty stuff went thru Des Moines a while ago, high wind, heavy rain, it is headed east....it has developed into a bow echo.
Up here in the NW area rain, some wind, nothing else yet...........hope we are done.

Roger, I saw your area on the weather channel at least 3 times, hope all is ok.

Vicki

We came out OK! We had one go to the west of us about 25 miles away and then some more to the east of us around Wichita about 50 miles away and a few to the north around Salina about 80 miles. Here in Hutch we got about 1/4" of rain and winds at 40-50 MPH but no damage to speak of at all. Saw one limb down on the way to church this morning. Even our kids in Manhattan came out OK. In Kansas you never know what to expect and twisters have a mind of their own when it comes to predicting when and where they will go.

As a side note..........

I heard on TV last night that we got more tornadoes in 12 hours in Kansas than we usually have in an entire year!!

There were 97 reported sightings and the weather man said that some of those may have been reported twice but even if you cut that in half (48) it would still be a record!

Now, THAT IS SAYING SOMETHING!! Even for Kansas.
