See "New-to-me Sidekick 12"

It's a very simple camper--two beds, stove, sink, TV, combo A/C and heater, awning and a dinette (which converts to one of the beds). Much easier to set up than my tent was to set up in 30 mph winds in Kansas (I was almost re-named "Dorothy"!!!). It's a bit short on storage space, but my woodworking skills are going to take care of that challenge.

So, if I don't answer the door, check the nearest campground with a fishin' hole :D :D :D

What a neat camper! We did a lot of that back in the day. If you ever come down I-35 we are nearby with lots of room.

Hey Verna,

Nice rig!

The offshore boys are predicting a good salmon run this year, although there won't be a sockeye season on Lake Washington. If you're up for another long drive, we'll set you up.

Tom

Somebody really should tell her that she is missing the back half of the camper

How long is it? 12-15 feet?

I hope that you and Paula got the approval of Spike and Sunny Day.

Now, Vicki, remember my tent was 8'x8'....so this 12 ft camper is an upgrade (it is really 10.5' long--can't figure out the "official titles").

After tent-camping, I found I really don't need a lot of fancy stuff. As long as the campground has restrooms and showers, I'm happy. While it'd be nice to have a totally self-contained RV, it's just not in the budget

Oh, and Sunny Day and Spike don't care as long as they're with us :D :D

The real challenge will be to get Paula's and Verna's camping stuff combined......I like my stuff, she likes her's. Compromise will be important.

Jess, I'll keep I-35 in mind. Texas is one state I'd like to visit, but not in the heat of the summer!!! BUT, the A/C does work and after a little while it did cool the camper down rather well while it was in the driveway.

Tom, sounds good, but I'm going to be staying closer to home for the rest of this year. One long trip a year is enough for me.

Nice little rig, Verna! I know what you mean about doing with less, and less. Ours is a 16' Jayco feather single axel - wish I'd opted for dual axle even on one that small - makes a world of difference in towing I'm finding out. But, live and learn.

The only downside of traveling small, in our case, are the three dogs, any one of which is about 2 1/2 of Sunny Day. But they ride and sleep in the back of the truck. I've put together a portable package for the Invisible Fence so we manage to keep them corralled once we're set up.

I, too, had to do some extensive remodeling to make our little trailer fit our needs. One caution - if you do much in the way of attaching things to the exterior walls, check and double check the length of your screws. No, that's not spoken from a bad experience since I sweat bullets making sure I didn't go through the exterior skin! (grin)

If/when you manage to get back here to paradise NW we've got plenty of room and power/water hookup if you'd like to experience Skagit Co.!

Just went camping for a one night Father/Daughter trip in the old tent. It was great fun.

P.S. I fired up the old Primus 8R stove with 15 year old fuel and it worked like a charm! :-D :-D

They always measure from the hitch, rather misleading...........

don't bother coming to New Mexico this summer - no camping. The national forest and state lands are closed because of incredibly high fire danger. Presumably you've seen some of the fires on the news. The Las Conchas Fire, burning around Los Alamos went from ignition to over 40,000 acres in under 24 hours. The official rain total for Albuquerque since Jan 1 is under 1/4".

Great camper Verna. We're thinking about a camping trip too, only down to Ogalala NE. Our camper is a bit more cramped, but it does float.

I passed through Santa Fe and Albequerue in mid-May, BEFORE the great fires. I love seeing the desert lands, and I'm always surprised at how much can be burnt in the desert. I hate that nature's beauty has been destroyed, and that so many lives have been disrupted. Thanks for the advice.

I just returned from the Old North West Territorial Primative Rendezvous. We had nine dayus of eating anything we wanted to cook. Venison, rabbit goose , pork, elk, ,etc. We made a lot of popcorn and 18 gallons of icecream for the kids of all ages. Here is a picture of some of the 200 plus camps at Ceasears Creek pioneer village.

Hummmmm, I'm not sure, PK. We'll have to see about that.
