See "Camping in Seattle"

Sorry, Larry, it's a rental!!! I didn't want to put 7,000+ miles on my truck, so I rented the Ford Escape. But....I will tell you, that it has averaged almost 29 mpg for the entire trip so far. Not bad, and a lot better than my 4x4 Canyon.

Dang! Sunny Day is treating you nicely!

My dads folks had built a shelf so their pet dog could see where they were heading, does Sunny have that advantage too?

I am impressed by the mileage that is nearly double what I get, alas I have no car payments

Now we're talkin'!

Liz has an '05 Escape and likes it. I prefer my F-150, but the mileage is much better on the Escape.

Glad you're having a good time on your trip.

I never got more than 24 on my 06 Escape, but in fairness, it was a 6-cylinder AWD automatic. Kids got 26 on their 4-cylinder AWD Mariner.

My Flex gets about 22, but holds all of us and the grandkids at once. (In luxury!) Even has bilateral bunwarmers for those cold winter mornings. I still miss my Rangers, but with a trailer, I can haul wood.

NB, this is a 2011 6 cylinder AWD automatic that is Flex fuel. I have the rear seats down and the cargo area is filled with camping stuff (I cannot pack light!!).

It had 1120 miles on it when I picked it up, so I guess I am breaking it in. I've had two friends tell me they consistently have gotten over 28 mpg on their 6 cyl automatics and now I know they weren't kidding me.

I can honestly say that I am considering one for my next vehicle purchase....although I hate the thought of not having a pick up. I sure would like to have the fuel economy of this Escape.

Normal disclaimer--I have no financial interests in the Ford Co., etc.

Over to MN, IA, lots of points in-between, and then home. So, I figure I've got almost as much to go as I've got now.

Value of the 6-speed trannie. With my 5-speed 06 60 was 2000 rpm. With the Flex, 60 is 1750. Imagine you're close to the same.

AWD is worth the fuel penalty in our 5 months worth of snow. Also great for those times when you run the right side wheels in a puddle and the left are dry. You ALMOST feel the pull before the vehicle corrects.

Verna,
Are you coming down I-90 on this trip? You've got to stop and see me if you are anywhere close to southern MN!

Verna are you crossing the Pacific Ocean? if so look me up

Island of Maui 44 coconut trees from the big sand dune; the one with the Kiawe tree on the left side not the right side many confuse that and get lost.
