Has anyone else noticed that their Wood Working magazines are shrinking in size and content? I just recieved my Popular WW mag last night and boy is it thin.I compared it to some earlier issues and they are just as thin and small. My other mags seem to be getting smaller too.

Sign of the times, I reckon. Lot's fewer on the racks at stores also. Walmart and Lowes used to carry several, but no more. Why buy the paper, when you can get it all on-line? :(

I'd much rather have a digital version of the mag anyway...

It's happening across the board. The big reason is the lack of advertising. Reduced ad revenue = less funds to buy the paper.

I saw that Popular Woodworking and their uber-skilled woodworking mag are being combined into one edition starting in March.

Wood is still coming in at 96 pages... they still have the strength of the BH&G branding, and I have noticed they are taking more 'home improvement' kind of ads.

FWW looks solid right now.

From there, things get a little more dicey. Woodcraft's circ numbers are paltry compared to the other mags, and Woodworker's Journal and American Woodworker are fighting like mad to keep up...

This recession is taking its toll across the board....

With only one income in the house now I had to let some Mag subscriptions expire. I had to cut back on a lot of things. I skipped the WW Show in Baltimore because of it. First time in years that I did not go. Cancelled 2 hunting trips too. :(

Strangely availability of American mags has just improved here. I picked up my first ever copy of American Woodworker in a large Book / Magazine store a couple of weeks ago. Admittedly this was at a 'flagship' store. I didn't see one there today when I called in to a smaller version of the same store down the road from me. :(

Lack of advertising is definitly the problem and will make publishers more swayed by manufacturers ,when it comes to tool reviews, than they already have been in the past

I stumbled on a WOOD magazine deal that got me 3 years for $27 and then offered to share it/them with a coworker so halved that for a total investment of $13.50. It's been 4 weeks since the first issue came and have had 3 since, the last being the March issue. By July I'll be reading the 2011 articles !
