These are from western Iowa, where they are still digging out from the Christmas storm.

Makes me think of my Little Brother, a plow driver for VDOT back in Virginia.

You know what would help with drifting snow is snow fences. We have them all over out here in CO and WY. Especally in WY along I-80. Without them, I-80 would be a seasonal road.

Wow!! Here in the UK we're so unused to snow that even a little causes total chaos with all modes of transport.

Most areas here have used their entire winter supply of gritting salt over the last 4 weeks and its use is now being rationed

Fortunately we've had no fresh snow in my part of the country since Saturday night and we're having a slow thore. All roads around me are now clear although still icy at night.

My workshop base is still well covered though :(

Oh Dratts. .. I just checked the local forcast we've more snow forcast for tonight and tomorrow :( :(

It's badly affecting my business..... the appointment slots are just not filling because people are unsure whether they can get there.

Vicki,

The pictures of where the road could not even be identified are amazing....and the depth of some of those drifts

Wow those are like icebergs

I can only imagine that one has to drive the right vehicle or its a case of staying at home.

I think I will stick to my summer

Keep warm all

Those pics are from where I grew up in SW Iowa and where most of my family still lives. The rolling hills and road cuts through them make for lots of opportunity for snow to pile up real high-obviously.

Thanks, Vic. Can't wait to go home in the next couple weeks.

Wow, Vicki! I thought it was bad here, but we have nothing like that! Nothing. I don't know where I will put the next snow we get which does not happen til March usually. Been bitterly cold for the past few weeks, warming up today. Already 11 degrees!

In lake effect country we're a mere ">36" on level ground now. Dog bites man, and not news. The county has those humongous four-auger seven foot high snowblowers to take care of those E-W roads, but they've been enjoying the school vacation by delaying everything but the main roads a few days. The rollovers have lost half the right-of-way on my way out, so I hope they get the big stuff out and clear it.

Gotta love trees when the wind kicks up.
