Thanks Ron.
I did enjoy reading that article.
Technology is so far out these days that it is unbelivable!
I rember when I raced enduro Go Karts and used two cycle engines, they were very effecient. We raced on 1-1/2 mile road courses for an hour at a time just as hard as we could make them go. We would avrage 70 -75 miles an hour and use about 2 or 2-1/2 or gallons of fuel (gas or alky) We could wind those little 100 cc engines to 12,000 or 13,000 RPM and I was once clocked at 105 MPH at the end of a long stright (about 3/4 mile long) on a 2 mile course.
We really thought we had the tiger by the tail.
And really we wern't doing too bad, all that was back in the middle '80s!!
Another thing...A 2 stroke will run in any position, even upside down. That's why they are used on chain saws and other hand held apps.
Of course, the smoke they make (because of the oil added to the fuel) is the big draw back these days. "Back in the day" when someone was running real fast, the comment would be "He's smokin GOOD!!"
