Every time I see an SR71 Blackbird in person I feel like I should salute it! MAN I love that plane. Down in Dayton I saw one in a museum hangar with one of it's engines on the ground with the covers off and man it was HUGE.
What a beautiful animal.
We have a SR71 hanging from the celing in the "Kansas Cosmospher and Space Center" here in lil' ole' Hutchinson, Kansas USA.
I agree that it is one awsome bird.
Before it got "suspended" it was parked in a hanger at the airport. I used to go there every week to sell tools and could NOT bring myself to not walk around it and gawk at it every time I saw it!
What kills me, is that the thing was flying in the middle '60s when I was in the Air Force and I had NOT a clue it even existed!! (Of course, I was just an enlisted "Air Cop" in Oregon at the time
)
I kept thinking, "Man that sure is big just to carry two people and a camera!" But of course it carryed them at a rather awsome speed!
