Pushstick slipped and my thumb hit the blade. Fortunately I have a SawStop and it worked as advertised. :D

I had an accident a couple of years back on a Delta that cost me a trip to the ER and a hand surgeon. This time there was ONE DROP of blood!

Worth every penny I paid for it.

Dick, I'm so glad you weren't hurt badly. I'm sure the SawStop paid for itself.

Stay safe

That is the first "REAL LIFE" report that I have ever seen!
Thanks for reporting it and I'm glad you are allright.
I will consider that saw for myself when I want to up-grade. Im just glad to know that it is not all advertizing hipe.

thanks for the good news-- that you are ok and that your tool safety device works as advertised.

Glad all is well-- I'm interested in hearing your experience with replacing the brake/how well the machine stands up as far as accuracy (though that certainly takes a back seat to keeping you safe!)

Lawrence - Getting the fused blade/brake off the saw takes a little work. Put new blade and brake on and runout at the blade rim is .001". Total soct of the accident was $180 for a new brake cartridge and a Forrest WWII. Didn't even need a bandaid.

Roger - They now have 2 less expensive versions of the saw. I have the original industrial version but they also make a homeshop cabinet saw and a contractor saw. www.sawstop.com

Needless to say, I'm one VERY satisfied customer!

Thanks for the info on the less expensive versions. My problem is,I just bought a new Jet saw about two years ago (just before the Saw Stop came out) and am very happy with it.
I did stick my thumb into the blade last year. Not much serious damage to the thumb but, it is still a little numb.
I just cant justify the expence yet and I'm the type of guy who would feel bad selling my saw to someone who might get hurt on it so that I wouldn't.

Dick, that was a 180.00 dollars that I am sure you gladly spent. Those fast spinning blades have no mercy.

Great to see they work as advertised.

I'm sure Saw Stop would appreciate a testimonial from you...maybe even with a photo for "evidence".

Bob - Went online and filled out the accident report and gave a testimonial. The neat thing is if I send them the brake cartridge and their testing shows it was tripped by contact with my thumb, SawStop will send me a new one FREE!

RDWARE: A question/request of curiosity. Please post a pic of the push stick or describe it. If it happened to you, it could bite someone else and have more dire consequenses.
TIA
