I haven’t posted much since my return from TN. But I have been busy. Last Sunday we moved LOML’s mother in with us. She is 87, legally blind, nearly deaf and pretty much confined to a wheel chair. The first project was to build a wheelchair ramp. I looked up the specs on the AWDA sight and built it as close as I could to their standards. Next was the front porch, since she still smokes, (try and tell an 87 year old to quite) I needed to replace the roof, insulate the porch, put in a door, and put some walls on the inside. I also had to add another light and a fan for the window, to suck the smoke away from the front door. We had to clean out the spare bedroom, that WAS the computer room, put some stuff in storage, and get it ready for her. I had to add grab bars to the bathtub and next to the toilet for her, remove the shower door and put up a shower curtain. Being old, all this did take me some time, but it is done, and she seems to be happy here. She was in an assisted living home, but as her eye sight deteriorated, it became obvious that she need more care than they were able to provide, and we refuse to put her in a nursing home, we decided to move her here. After the first 5 days, it seems to be working out well. We all have had to make some compromises, but nothing that is too drastic. I have managed a little shop time, and have a couple of gloats, which I will post soon in the proper place. It will be good to get back to the shop. As a side note, I have always respected carpenters and roofers, but after this project, I respect them a whole lot more. ‘Taint as easy as it looks!!
Oh, yeah, we had to get satellite tv in so she could "watch" her favorite station, Animal Planet.
