Well, I spent about 4 years in one of our "storerooms" at work where we distributed telecommunications equipment for use within our company. We even had the opportunity to tour some of our reconditioned vendor's facilities.
I'll tell you, now I do ask for the reconditioned telephones because they have the same warranty as the new ones, at a 33% savings. Also, it was neat to see how well they were cleaned, the testing involved, and the new packaging they were put in.
With all of the electronic equipment in that storeroom, I found the reconditioned equipment was repaired to a higher standard than the original equipment was made. Yes, hard to believe, but think about it. The technicians had to go through everything in the equipment to find all of the problems with it, rather than just make sure it turned on.
So, reconditioned is OK with me, and yes, I have purchased reconditioned tools for the workshop.........especially those antique planes
