a cry for help. Honey this knife is just a pain to use. Its handle's cracked and splitting and the thingies that hold the two sides together jiggle. Being the woodworker you are, respond to the challenge and using some really exotic offcuts make that knife into hair splitting museum quality tool that will last for your great grandchildren to have great grandchildren. Here is one way you can live that dream and be a kitchen hero

Of course the same method works for the trusty filet knife in the tackle box, and the flea market find you got for pennies.

The other end of the knife can also use some TLC and COOKS ILLUSTRATED magazine has a good article geared to kitchen knives. As usual what worked for one will work for many.

Hey Newtooth,

My paternal grandfather taught me the coffee cup trick when I was about eight years old and I have never had a dull pocket knife in my pocket since.

Cheers,
Tom

TMS: Isn't it funny how the old ways really make sence. In these days of micro adjustability and laser directed cuts the simple things still work the same way they have for generations. It is a good thing that your Grandfather lives in your memory which has made his life eternal in a way.
