graceful when you need a curve but not a circle. Either catenary or parabolic curves will join two lines that intersect at odd angles. You could layout a curved top for a hall table, or long curves for a dining table top edges imagination can lead the way. How about rockers for a cradle or legs for a tall shelf.

Also ball chain suspended at both ends will describe an eye pleasing curve.
