I've glued rare earth magnets to the bottom of empty cat food tins in which I mix up finishes for lathe work. Like beeswax & mineral oil. It keeps the tins attached to the headstock of the lathe and handy when it comes time for application. No end to their use!

The magnets from an old hard drive are extremely powerful and free if you have old hard drives (talk to your geek friend if you don't)
