and want to make your tools really comfortable, Make the new handles and here's one way to do it.

http://www.docgreenwoodturner.com/maketoolhandle.html

Making handles that fit increase safety and efficiency but rounders are not the only ones to benefit. Make file and chisel handles make handles for all kinds of purpose made tools like a mini scraper from an old unused allen wrench or strike out and make a saw handle for that "just had to get it " yard/garage/flea market find.

Nice article. I've made lots of handles and yes, it's not that difficult. Another plus for wood turning gouges and chisels is that each handle can be unique in some way to make them easy to identify in the tool bucket or on the tool rack.

Ferrules are a nice touch. I routinely make them from copper pipe. Often you can get an off cut of 1 1/2 or 1" pipe from a local plumbing shop for a lot less than the cost of a full length piece at the hardware store. Of course you'll need a tubing cutter big enough to deal with that size and ideally you should get a de-burring tool as well.

Thanks, NT, for bringing this to our attention.
