But, I can't find where it says that the grain of Sassafras is similiar to oak or ash. I guess these sources don't know everything!!!!

This site seems to have a little info on Sassafras trees.

just scoot the species selector over to Sassafras (I had to click several times). The 'stain' picture looks like Red Oak.
