Hey Newtooth,
Wax is an essential part of my finishing repertoire. I use brown wax to make things look old, I use a bar of pure carnauba on my buffing wheel, use Hutt™ on my turning projects, and I use Mother's Pure California Gold™ carnauba paste wax on just about every thing else.
Oh, I also use beeswax to wax threads of screws and cord for hand stitching leather, and I use paraffin coated wax paper to keep glue at bay and to lubricate work pieces on machine tables. Oh yeah, I also rub paraffin on my files to keep them from getting clogged with soft metals and other goo. Oh, oh, one more (at least), I use Butcher Block™ finish for cutting boards which is a mixture of mineral oil and beeswax.
I'm sure that I've left something out.
Cheers, Tom
