How can you use a length of pipe to pull nails?

Yes I am a bit stuck on nail questions, but lets be honest nails have there place in this caper.

Use it as a "boomer" over the handle of whatever you are using to pull nails with.

Drive one end of the pipe down around the head of the nail to make an indention so the claw or nail puller can get a better grip on the head of the nail. Yea, it would ruin the wood but, you could at least pull the nail out and save some of the board and the board that the first one was nailed to. :D

Vote thingy won't work

Using pipe as a lever and/or wedge and/or rolling the nail over the pipe keeping the pull straight.

If it is a small nail you could use a small diameter pipe, file saw teeth into the end of it and use it like a hole saw to drill a core with the nail at its center. Removing the core removes the nail and the hole can be plugged.

Hey Eric,

I agree with Roger, although, I would hope to find a better way.

As far as nailing goes, a famous boat builder named R.D. (Pete) Culler once said,

"Nail where you can, screw where you must, and bolt where you have to."

Yeah Tom I am with you. I can't quote the proper source, but I was always told " never use a screw where a nail will do!" However the same person who always quoted that to me often told me the threads on screws were only for removing them  What's more since I have lived and worked over here, the hammer is oft called "the yankee screw driver". I defend what honour I can though!

Tommorrow I will tie this one up. Not that I have the "right " answer, just a different variation of the above!

Sorry the poll doesn't work...

Eric

Polling does not work for me. I assume it is because of the following settings found at the bottom of the page:

You cannot vote in polls in this forum

My page tells me that not only can I not vote in polls but also that I may not post new topics and also I am not allowed to delete my messages. None the less the puzzler is a most informative fun page here at the forum.
