I’m hoping we have some finishing pros out there. I have done years of finishing work on all my wood projects. But recently a fellow woodworker said I was making a big mistake when I was including a glaze in one of the steps. So here are the steps I was planning on doing on this big custom kitchen cabinetry project. The components are red oak. First I used a solvent based wipe on/wipe off near white stain. Then after full curing 1 coat of sprayed on General Finish satin clear to seal the stain. Then another light scuff and then Wipe on/wipe off Vandyke glaze. Lastly I typically would have let the glaze dry for at least 24 hours before adding the final clear coats of General Finish high performance. But my woodworker friend said after glaze I only have a maximum 6 hour window to spray the final clear coats. He said if I wait longer the finish will eventually peel. So if any of you have any comments on this based on your experience that would be greatly appreciated. Just trying to keep myself busy during these crazy times....Jim in Nashville, TN
