Someone just told me that a wood called Red Grandis was a good choice to use for the entrance door I plan to make. I had never heard of it before. Does anyone have experience with this species? Such as warping potential and staining, etc. thanks

It's a Eucalyptus species. Looks something like mahogany, but softer and paler. Comes out of Uruguay plantations. Readily available.

be sure to scroll all the way down - there were some problems and as of 2014 they no longer carry that wood

JIMONGEE: Try woodfinder. I did and searched for red grandis and this is one of two entries that came up. consider freight :( You will find the red grandis listed in the page section called exotic woods
