When I was a kid in the city, we used used to save our popsicle sticks from the ice cream man.

There's all kinds of fun to be had with popsicle sticks... We would sharpen them on the curb to make "knives"... Or, we have "boat races" with them, down the street in a heavy rain, in between the curb and the tires of parked cars.... Lol, that was fun stuff..

But the "Ninja star" was the coolest toy that can be made out of popsicle sticks, bar none!

It actually flies pretty good, and it takes some skill to be accurate with it..

And the coolest part is that it explodes on impact! ... But then you just put it back together and play again!

This one is just some scraps that I had on hand today.. The proportions ain't exactly right, but you get the idea..

I love the old timey simple toys like this, Jim. Brings back lots of memories for me, too.

Memories for me too. I had hundreds of popsicle sticks. With those and some glue, your imagination could run wild!

heheheheh, I don't remember ever using glue on popsicle sticks Zulu...

When I was five or six, I tried to build a "log cabin" out of toothpicks, with "airplane glue", but that didn't end well.. Long story short, I wound up with half of a toothpick stuck into the side of my palm because I got frustrated and tried to smash it... lol, live and learn I guess

But that ninja star was a cool toy. ... there were a lot of lessons in that one. Building it was one thing, but learning how to throw it was another... If you throw it too hard, it will blow up in your hand before you even release it (it's all in the wrist)... and, how well you assemble it will affect how hard you can throw it too... it was a trade-off, just like everything else in this world.

I learned a lot about physics from the old "popsicle stick Ninja Star" :D

Jim,
I, too, built a very small town out of wooden match sticks and glue.
When I was finished, I burned it to the ground!
Those match sticks really burned well!
