A friend of mine found this by the dumpster in her subdivision. I repaired and modified it a bit and now it is used for bird seed
storage. Got my wife's bird seed out of my shop!!!!.
I have no idea what it was originally. Someone thought it might have been a baby changing station with the holes in the right side to reach in to retrieve a clean diaper. It was really rough with some of the boards split. It had old square cut nails in some of the boards. I glued, clamped and repaired some of the boards. Replaced some of the boards and used screws to reassemble it. Some parts had been repaired with newer nails and when the nails bent they just bent them on over and added another nail beside it. It was in much worse shape than the pictures show.

You know...

that if someone were to ask me what that cabinet was used for, I would have said that it's a birdseed cabinet. Congratulations on finding such a rare item.

Cheers,
Tom

I don't know what it was either but good find!
Are the hinges modern?

Nice, but at my house the seed is inside a metal trash can. chippies/mice/squirrels chewed their way into other ways I've tried. Inspect often.

I reused the hinges that was on it, so I don't know if they are the original. I've never seen any like them.
