Here are some things I just got.

See "Goodies"

The frame saw came from ebay.
The hand saw is my Dad's> ~1950's, resharpened.
Some nice bench hooks from Bad Axe Tools
Couple of holdfasts from Gramercy Tools.

I do have another Goodie coming but it will be a month or so before it is ready.

I have been cutting half-laps on this quilt rack with a Stanley Tool Box saw. What a pain, I got my Dad's in this morning and finished up one other half lap in about 5 minutes. What a difference sharpening makes.

Yes, I am left-handed.

Some really great additions John. Amazed to see you hand cutting half laps. Yes a newly sharped saw is a must for that.

That frame saw looks nearly new.

The frame saw was represented as a vintage Marples. The pictures are bad off my cell phone. The handles an blade holders are one piece turned brass.
I have never seen that before but they will work. The center piece or stretcher is a different color but all the mortises fit okay. The tensioner is brass, really nice. The blade is a piece of bandsaw blade. It is dull I guess I will have to make a new one or find some place that carries 18" blades.

The sawing does get the heart rate up! My cardiologist likes that! It is also interesting to find out how to saw. I have discovered a bunch of instructions that help a lot. I still use the power tools but the hand stuff is fun also.

Not yet. That is my next project. I have looked at several designs and I think that I will steal a little bit from all of them. I think I am going to use two 2x6s for the top. I want to leave a opening about 1/2" wide down the center for ripping. The legs will 2x4s set at an angle. The skirt and leg braces will either be plywood or 1 by material. I am not going for beauty just functionality.

Kind of like all the huge work benches I see that are the rage nowadays. My bench is a solid core door I got for $10 years ago, some glued up legs fro 2bys and 6 by braces all snugged up by bolts. The most expensive thing on it is the Lee Valley front vise. I am thinking about modifying the bench a bit to put some storage beneath it. Right now all kind so things get parked under there.
