This is a really great idea and design, and I can see it making some serious impact on benches in the near future!

WOW what a great design, but I doubt it'll be in my price range.

My guess - you'll be able to buy one at a cool $800 for your bench...

Hmm....

I doubt it will be that much, but the basic design is adaptable to other stuff also, so I'd expect the price to come down if they are marketed well and are well received. Might wait a couple years.

Good point, Gene. But, you can imagine something like that would come attached with a hefty price tag...

The vise will be about $350.00.You can read about it on Chris Schwarz's blog from Popular Woodworking Magazine.

This has got to be a popular and desirable item. If I read the linked article correctly, the inventor, designer intends to manuf. them himself? I hope he can eventually license a company to apply volume production to bring the price down to where we drones can at least consider getting one.

I have no doubt that there will be many knock-offs coming from various foreign sources that don't care about patents, and that will be made of inferior materials and of lesser quality.

Guess I'm naive enough, Gene, such that it didn't occur to me that inevitable cheap foreign reproductions may flood the market. I was merely hoping for a licensing situation so the author would receive just due.

Looks good from here and should hold a slightly tapered stock ok.

Thanks Gene.

Have Fun
