Well, we got the kitchen refurb done- we had hoped to keep things around $1K and according to the accountant (also known as LOML) altogether we spent $1065. This included putting in a new floor (18 inch porcelain tiles), refinishing the cabinets (primer and impervo paint), putting in blumotion on the cabinet doors, fixing 3 broken doors, making 4 cherry drawers, undercabinet lighting, a new clock and mat, crown molding, and knobs for the doors/drawers.

After

I feel that the drawers turned out quite well- I ended up doing through DT's on the front and back and shellac gives me a little protection.

Thanks again to everyone for all the advice/suggestions-- it was most valuable and helped me give the boss options as I went along.

Of course now LOML wants to refinish the table and chairs to match  I guess that goes on the honeydo list!
Thanks for looking,
Lawrence

I am not happy with your kitchen redo. ONLY BECAUSE IT IS NOT IN MY HOUSE. JK.

You did a great job there Lawrence, I know you will be happy with it.

In retro, I am a lover of natural wood, but do recognize that others are not, if I get to redo my kitchen, (planning), they are all white now and my plan is to redo them in natural oak. But that is me.

Excellent Job, Lawrence!! Very nice touch on the drawers. Those dovetails will speak for themselves at show time. Lots of pluses in painting kitchens .... washable being the main one and brightness being another. I think it is a great improvement, Congrats!
Karen must have some real confidence in you .... refinishing requires some skill and effort. Certainly not a task for the fainthearted.

Like everyone else has said, KUDOS! I think it looks fantastic. And to have spent a thousand bucks...Are you kidding me? Unreal.

Lots of bang for VERY little buck.

The kitchen looks great, what's for dinner? The drawers do look fine, I saw the dividers in another post. The dovetails accent the cherry nicely, do you want to leave them open all the time?
