Just excellent work, Gene. Very inspirational. Design and execution with perfect detail ... makes a priceless heirloom.

Yes, Gene, an heirloom for sure!!! Love that you left the knots in the walnut--it gives it so much more character.

Thanks for the in-progress pics--you did a fine job.

Nice work on the chest, Gene. How come they are lines in the drawer fronts?

It's part of the design. Adds visual interest to what would otherwise be a rather plain and uninteresting face, and complements the corner fluted columns and legs.

Gene

The finished chest lived up to it's potential. Wonderful job.
Should stay in the dinning or living room so more can see
your work. Hidden in the bed room will keep some from seeing
it.

Wonderful Job.

One last construction detail. The back boards are half lapped and spaced with a penny, then nailed on using 1 clout nail in the center of each end to permit expansion/contraction. Clout nails are used to prevent splitting near the ends of the boards. I used Item A ( 1" )- http://www.leevalley.com/US/hardware/pa ... 1306,41324

Absolutely beautiful work.
